Thought I would copy this message from the Peak District Yahoo Group.
"Hulleys are getting a decker !!
From October we need a decker to operate new tendered work that will start in Castleton at 0700 approx as a 242 to Sheffield and return (including the Bamford - Hope Valley school, hence the double deck requirement) and then it will operate a combined 175 and 241 service every two hours from Bakewell - Eyam - Hathersage - Yorkshire Bridge - Sheffield before returning to the 242 service at afternoon schools ending in Sheffield at appprox 1900.
we have also retained the 52/63/64 services as they are now (hard luck Baggy) but for a year only when they will be reviewed, a case of use it or lose it I think.
we were hoping to get the 214 but weren't successful, rumours are that it's gone to First, anyone heard anything ?
at the moment no bus has been selected but it will be a low floor"
Interesting times for Hulleys and it's nice to see them aquire a decker that should be low floor and it's nice to see them expanding there presense in South Yorkshire.

Sounds to me as though the FSY 51A will be withdrawn from the above date as that is around the times this service runs. Possibly thinking the 241 & 242 from TM Travel will be withdrawn with this bus running as a 2 hourly 241.
Sounds like big changes on the Sheffield - Peak District corridor.

Its been a good few years since they last had a decker, IIRC the last one was the 272 regular in its day.
I presume the 242 trip is actually the 272 that leaves at 7am, other two buses will be going the Ladybower way within half an hour of each other and nothing Hathersage way until 9am.
I'm not surprised the 63 is being reviewed, usage on the Chesterfield end is very light, although the timetable isn't great (a peak time run out of Chesterfield but no inbound journey).
It appears as well the 241 route will change if the above is correct as it doesn't currently serve Eyam, I presume to compensate for the 175 reduction.

Interesting to see that they are intending to purchase a double decker, have they ever operated a double decker before? Certainly can't recall them doing so myself?

As mentioned in my posting above Hulleys have operated deckers in the past, their most recent one in the mid/ late 90s? was the regular 272 allocated vehicle.
IIRC it was a Damiler Fleetline in a largely dark blue livery.

Was the Daimler Fleetline, ex South Notts HNN114V or was it MTO144F?

I'm sure they had a 'decker in blue and cream that I remember seeing on the 272 once in the late 90s? At that time it was usually some sort of scruffy single decker (National?).
On the subject of Hulleys news, does anyone know where the DAF is used these days, assuming they still have it? It was of course the 272 regular after the Excel was sold, but these days the 272 seems to be cycling between various Evolutions and the E200.

The DAF now seems to be used alongside the other saloons on anything but the 272, it worked the lunchtime relief on the 175 yesterday which I think does the 14:00 173 afterwards. It hardly appeared on such work for a couple of years so I don't know why they altered things, it never was the best performer but neither are the Darts.
