They're lovely. Did a trip this afternoon from Basildon to Chelmsford on the 100. Very comfortable, lots of leg room. Plus they've done exactly the job they probably intended to do - passengers have noticed they're new and commented accordingly. Can't wait to see the Lothian ones in service. To my mind people get far too excited about a bit of paint. The primary function of paint is to protect the surface under it. The secondary purpose is to identify the vehicle and its owner. It performs both of there functions. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think paint and livery are very important - they can make an old bus look a lot newer and a lot more modern. They also give you an impression of the operator - a bad livery that makes the company look poor, or the buses look older is likely to put people off. See Powells/Redline for an example of mish-mashed logos and liveries (and buses dying for some paint) which don't look very good compared to rival companies. To be honest, I'm surprised you say you don't think paint matters that much considering your comments about the 'bogey bus' hybrids and Thamesdown tram.

For anybody who's in Edinburgh on Saturday 13 April, LB will be having a launch event on Castle Street (subject to location change). Come along for goodies etc.

My views are my own, I am just saying to those who can read is that it is not the be all and end all that some folks think it is. The ones I have issues with are those that are trying to replicate a previous livery, I have no real views on original liveries unless they are bland like the stagecoach stripes were. Yes, there are some naff paint jobs around (just seen the worst ever one today) but it is not THAT important.
