Is there any chance they will consider the Volvo B5LH for the deckers next year? I was on a Euro 6 Metroline example during the week (they're now allocated to route 7 in London); very, very impressive machines, faster than the E400 hybrids taking off, and the build quality blows OG's recently delivered E400s out of the water - they're just as solid as the older Geminis. It's also properly smooth at idle even when the engine is on unlike the older B5LHs, which vibrate like the best B6BLEs at idle when the engine is on. Toss up between B5TL and streetdeck. Hybrid not now an option. It will not be the X78 that they go on, they will however run from Rotherham depot. Watch this space............. Interesting, so it looks like the B9TLs are staying on the X78 after all.

I always thought the X78 was a bit of a contradiction to be honest.
Now don't get me wrong, i think it is a useful service and I use it often, but i always understood an X prefix to indicate an 'eXpress service with limited stops', such as the X19, or the old X32 for example. If this is the case then why does the X78 need to call at every stop on route? Especially at places such as along Balby Road in Doncaster as there are plenty of other frequent services along this section of route. Same between Meadowhall and Sheffield Interchanges.
Just my thoughts.
Regards, Darren.

Interesting, so it looks like the B9TLs are staying on the X78 after all. Part of ROs B9 fleet is earmarked for ALX/Trident replacement. The thing is there's that many buses from 2001/2 in FSY's fleet (B7s/Tridents) that they are all going to be ready for replacing near enough at once, partly because FSY have taken on that many midlife buses from other opcos in previous years and partly because South Yorkshire recieved a number of new buses back then.
