At Rotherham all First buses should be swept off every night and any spillages mopped, all buses are mopped/windows cleaned etc every second night. They get a deep clean on 28 day inpection, that deep clean Northern Rail would probably call a refurbishment! I'm guessing that is procedure across the board. Not being biased, I find First buses to be clean enough when they leave the garage but the thing which should be improved upon is seats and in recent years at Rotherham this has got better. Seats should be changed when they are filthy/stained but they are often not. I see this done every night and every bus leaves the depot clean. As you say they get a heavy clean alternate nights where a group of 4 cleaners get 15 minutes per bus and you can do a lot in that time. That would surpass the annual cleaning time on Northern Rail by the looks of it. Yes, what I'm calling a deep clean is everything from the roof/coves to seats etc and they call it an MT clean. It is done on 28 day inspection and off the top of my head they get 3 hours for a saloon and 4 hours for a decker.
