Does anyone know how tram 118's repair is progressing? I believe one car from tram 118 was attached to tram 120 to create a working set, leaving two broken units (two cars from 118, one from 120) awaiting repair.

It's viewable from the tram stop, although I can't say much else about how much is left to do on it and an expected entry to service.

Thanks T840MAK - was just surprised to learn it hadn't yet returned to service, though it sounds like some sort of work has been going on if it's actually a complete unit!

yeah its a complete unit. Needs bits putting back on and seats re-fitted, but are there that many spare seats.
Myself and this is only my opinion, perhaps it might be getting a complete refurb before it comes back into service, as they are all due one. Would make sense.

The Star have an article today: "Low rail adhesion effectively means poor traction on the rails. The report explains that the rails were often clogged with leaves and other detritus at Shalesmoor which affected stopping distances". Read more at: www.thestar.co.uk/news/tram-not-being-driven-appropriately-during-sheffield-tram-crash-full-report-published-1-8059570Shalesmoor has always seemed mucky bit of track, since it's a dip in the line (the bottom of the hill from the University underpass and also from Langsett Road/ Infirmary Road, so can understand it being susceptible to detritus...

They're not actually due another refurb in their lives, unless whoever takes over from Stagecoach in a few years decides to extend their life slightly. The FULL report into the accident (i.e. not on the Star's website) is available - www.gov.uk/raib-reports/collision-between-two-trams-at-shalesmoor

I believe one car from tram 118 was attached to tram 120 to create a working set, leaving two broken units (two cars from 118, one from 120) awaiting repair. It has been heavily robbed of parts and due to the vehicles age, genuine parts are no longer in production - leading to a delay in returning the vehicle to service. If anything it looks increasingly likely that it will become a donor of parts for the existing 24 tram.
Also don't forget this wasn't the first hybrid tram, trams 2 and 11 back in the late 90s were 'merged' together following an incident.

Currently on 1 road closest railway line looking practically complete now, just in need of some more seats. It's also got new adverts on the side of it, shouldn't be long now I'd have thought!

Hopefully, but I have a 'feeling' that it might not be straight out into Passenger Service, its gonna be tested alot and maybe, just maybe used for training new drivers to get any faults sorted.
