The double decker is a Powell's branded bus so I am assuming they have taken over the contract on Monday. I did not get close enough to see the reg but it may not be the same one each day I don't know how many DD's Powells have.

I am surprised they are doing it as previously it was being run by wakefield with a new E200. They ran it to ensure it was run correctly.

This was the message sent out in the staff newsletter: Significant improvements have been made to facilities for staff in response to the travel challenges presented by Covid, including an increase of 60 secure cycle spaces, refurbishments to staff shower and changing facilities and an additional 500 spaces have been added to the Doncaster Park and Ride Facility. 1300 spaces are now available and spaces have been relocated onto a better surface. For further increased safety additional lighting and CCTV coverage has been added to the site. We’re also pleased to announce that we have committed investment to upgrading the surface with tarmac and will replace the current single decker with a double decker bus to provide more spaces on the park and ride.So either it's a change of contract or they have leased the double decker, maybe the previous company couldn't or wouldn't provide a double decker and Powells offered a better deal, DRI are very tight where money is concerned.

Powell's previously held the contract. They are part of HCT as is the wakefield operation. The E200 was marked up as a Powell's bus but run from Wakefield depot. I suspect this will be the same. A friend from Powell's said it was because the management felt their staff were not up to it. Worrying.

Indeed if staff can't run a p 'n' r service that takes 5 mins from one terminus to the other how can they run a public service or even longer distance routes.

I did not get close enough to see the reg but it may not be the same one each day I don't know how many DD's Powells have. The requirement from the customer was double deck. We are trialing various options and one was an internal scania double deck from our Hellaby depot. This was transferred to Wakefield for a few days to see how it performed. It has now returned.

I am not sure which member of the team that is your friend said that, but I can assure you that is not the case.

The team at Powell’s are more than ‘up to it’. The reason we choose to operate this from our Wakefield depot is purely because of space.

Looks like they have dropped the double decker and gone back to the old bus they had before.
