(No surprise there) They will divert that money instead into the vote winner (they hope) of 80p fares for up to 21 year olds and this will be done by cutting 33% of the tendered service provision that they keep trying to get out of at any cost. The headlines of "bus companies cutting services " must make the PTE very proud of their lies.

Changes to bus, tram and train services in South Yorkshire Last updated on 30 June 2022.
Overview of service changes From 24 July there are also some other changes to services in Rotherham and Sheffield due to a lack of interest from bus operators to run services which we operate through contracts. As a result of this, a number of services will no longer run, or have their timetable reduced to only operate at times which operators deem are commercially viable. See timetables below, however, not all timetables are available so please keep checking this page.
From 11, 16, 24 July and 1 August there will be some general service changes to some services in Barnsley, Doncaster, and Rotherham. See timetables below, however, not all timetables are available so please keep checking this page.
From Saturday 18 June, service 291 Doncaster to Owston Ferry will be re-instated and operated by Stagecoach. See timetable below.

I have to be honest, I find this very hard to be leave. The 120, 95 51, possibly the 83 and 52 I am assuming will all continue late in some form because of the student population. It will be bad but not that bad! Sheffield and Doncaster are now cities, can you imagine the PR issue?. A city with no night life, because nobody can access it, and no public transport home after a night out in the city. Hmm. Also can you imagine the city of Doncaster only having one service after 10pm? I cannot, they want to embrace city status. Can you imagine a depot being kept open to run one service out of it, the 50b. I cannot see this but could be wrong.

The no buses after 9/10pm will be a big blow. Buses radiating from Sheffield city centre see high levels of customers even after 23:00. In Rotherham, Ravenfield will be difficult to access on a Sunday without the 116. I can see the Twearlies being up in arms about this. The update on the 135 is confusing, am I right in thinking it will only operate between Sheffield Interchange and High Green?
If Sheffield City Council dropped the "congestion charge" for buses in the city centre, it might make them more comercially viable.

8 and 24😂 Some folks need to get out more in the evening instead of being in bed by 8pm. I don't think either of those routes is at the top of the lower half of busiest routes in an evening. Obviously 52s and 120s and the X1/X78s must have dropped right off in a late evening then or is the 100 plus Students left regularly along Fulwood Rd on certain 120 trips just a distant memory.

I don’t know but it says a lot when X1s and X78s are both hourly in the evening. Go back 10 years or so and X78s were every 15 mins until around 21:00 and then half hourly, 69s were hourly and 1 and 2s were every half hour combined and the buses weren’t full but they all got people on. The last late evening bus I caught was a few months ago on a Friday night and was the 23:50 50B out of Doncaster and to my surprised it was packed.

What about the 81s and 82s to Stannington? Will they run after 10pm?
How certain is this? Is it just a possibility or is it likely to happen?

I could be wrong but whilst I expect some drastic cuts are coming I don’t think the evening/Sunday services will be as bad as the draft report mentioned above. I’d like to think it’s not just cuts that are coming and it’s a real change of the network back to something what works, some corridors across South Yorkshire the routes nowadays are a right mess in my opinion - take the Cantley/Bessacarr/airport/Finningley routes for example
