Where are the driving staff going to come from? 15 Worksop to Doncaster's were cancelled the other month. There was no driver available to do them! A good idea potentially for getting extra bums on seats, but if a large proportion of them are cancelled through staff availability, where are these extra people going to be accommodated? It's bad enough now! Are they suddenly going to find 20+ new drivers, so that Worksop depot can run a full timetable? hmm... |

From snippets of information I can get, my view is that there appears to be a management problem from the top down. The left hand not knowing what the right is doing, leading to poor decision making. Then they try to blame drivers for errors, passengers become more angry, with drivers etc. The managing director of the East Midlands as a whole commented in one of Hull's local papers, that drivers unions in Hull were being "unrealistic" with their request for £13 per hour. This is despite offering £14 in other areas. Grimsby, Mansfield, and Worksop seem practically badly hit, and in my view there seems to be a certain level of arrogance/ denial. "This is nothing to do with us gov, we are working so hard with an impossible situation" Well sorry but management does have a key role to play to aid the situation, and the first thing I would do is listen to your drivers at the coal face, who have some very reasonable ideas for route and rota changes that may improve things a bit. What I say is, is it "realistic" to keep cancelling so many services per day, without passengers loosing total confidence in your operation? It took head office fifteen months to cancel the 19 shorts between Rotherham and Thurcroft, this has supposedly freed up between three to four drivers a day. However we are now running all the Retford to Notts services instead of Gainsborough running dome of them. So we are back to square one. Better communication between management and driving staff I think would be a good place to start. There are other jobs out there, some with a better work life balance, better pay and a lot less hassle. The quicker management work the basics out the better. People with driving skills are in higher demand than ever, and if you don't treat them right and get a grip, they can just buzz off! |

A load of rubbish. The government has no right dictating what private trading companies charge. That is an issue between them and their customers (who are very happy to pay the rate set by First).

I have just heard that Sheffield City Clowns Council are to operate a £50 daily "clean air zone" charge on buses in Sheffield. Bang goes the £2 flat fares! Oh the fun and games!

Are they? As far as I’m aware all FSYs Euro 3 driver training buses are going and there’s 7 replacements due from Leeds/York (some already here) which I imagine are all Euro 6? |

All intended for the GM bus franchising based at Bolton but our bid wasn't successful. |
