Yes TM have overstretched themselves. Who fault is that? The tax payer or themselves? Who would be silly enough to buy buses not suitable for the local terrain? This is now a problem throughout the industry, a loss of discipline and a loss of customer service focus. If an airline behaved in this way, regulation 261 would force them to pay compensation. A staffing problem is the companies fault and not an act of God. The only way to restore some discipline back into the industry is to hit them where it hurts, the pocket. Other larger operators have canceled multiple runs because of driver shortages, but not two full routes for an indefinite period every Saturday. Limited resources need to be shared. The other problem is they have no competition on some of their routes. You wouldn't buy a kitchen from a company who delivered their plans and got every measurement wrong would you? You'd walk away. Some people don't have that choice with their local bus route. At least the 218 runs every 30 minutes and the 257 provides an alternative, unlike the 31 and 117. Plenty of alternatives to the 117: 116/X78 Rotherham - Dalton 3/X1/X10 Rotherham - Flanderwell/Bramley No one uses it at Woodlaithes/Bramley Grange and if anyone on Flash Lane can't walk the 2 stops there's the 10 to take folk to Bawtry Road. The PTE seriously need to look at the tendered mileage that they pay out thousands each year for. For me, the first route that should get binned is the 8/8a which are just glorified Tram Replacement Buses, no need whatsoever for them to run. 20 is probably another one that should be on the list, how many proper passengers for Ulley, Brampton, Brookhouse, Firbeck, etc does that carry? Based on my experience virtually nil. It's all well and good complaining when cuts are made but when buses are running round for people that can't walk to a frequent service but can then magically walk around town/Crystal Peaks all day it's just another waste of tax payer money that can be used elsewhere It feels like there's an unresolved gap between "there's no point in having a service that doesn't run often enough or for long enough to allow people to do everyday things like use the bus for work/ shopping" and "local councillor for INSERT NAME HERE insists that popular service be saved" (when the service isn't popular enough for many people actually bother using it that often and "saved" invariably means some box tickingly pointless service As things stand the 117 is pretty useless, it starts too late and finishes too early for most fare paying adults to use, certainly no use for schools, it doesn't serve many stops that are unique (or that far from others) In the Little Nipper days some services only ran a handful of days a week. South Pennine do that on some corridors, maybe that'd at least serve the "pensioners on market day" demand But when theres insufficient staff to run enough buses on routes that used to be on the Overground map (etc), services ike the 117 feel a luxury, more a case of "what can we find for a bus to do off peak between X7 duties" than actually meeting much demand

GXO Logistics fund this service. While I can see why they've done it, it's not a great look altering a bus service in this way because it's too popular! Maybe adding extra journeys to cope with demand might have been a better solution?

GXO Logistics fund these trips on service 2A, so if it's leaving their own workers stranded and unable to board I suppose something had to be done. Hopefully Evri will start funding trips for their own workers.

Evri has also got the normal.number 2 and x17 as far as Birdwell, then just walk across the road, I know in rothehram the 208 goes to.gxo logistics but I'm led to believe evri workers can't catch that one
