RTA in Rosso this morning - it was a spud on an empty working, not sure on the number. Looked to have skidded into a ditch, there were a few other vehicles damaged. Front offside damage, panels missing.

According to the Free Press website, it was involved in a collision with a man in a Rover. www.doncastertoday.co.uk/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=786&ArticleID=2140538Their photo: .jpg) As well as front-end damage, it looks like the front suspension has broken too, possibly when it mounted the kerb. Seems a strange place for it to come to rest and it's probably quite lucky that it was empty. |

Aye, it was a small maroon rover. That photo would have been taken after I passed by as the engine has been turned off and the emergency doors shut.

True, although sometime on this forum (which I will try to find if I remember to do so) I'm sure someone mentioned that a newer bus (a T-MAK B10BLE) wouldn't be repaired after a collision, although the damage might have been more severe to that. Looks like a fair amount of damage to the front of the body, and if the front suspension has broken, the chassis might not be in such a good shape either. I hope that those involved (just the Rover driver and the Spud driver, it seems) are alright. |

That could be the one. Plus, if they're getting some new Geminis at some point this year, they could possibly just about manage without the Spud, especially if a B10M is retained rather than converted to a trainer? I'm not suggesting that this is what will happen, but if the bus turns out to be uneconomic to repair (considering that it wasn't astounding to begin with), just an idea of how they might work around the problem.

Who knows - I'm sure it'll become a useful source of spares otherwise. Perhaps they could tack an extra Gemini on - or with spuds on the 55 being displaced by Geminis anyway it shouldn't be a problem (anyway - one bus shouldn't be a problem anyway!)

MOTI would know, but I haven't seen him on here for a while, so we won't know yet!
I suppose if they get some failures or other accidents, it might leave them short, but it looks like it might be off the road for a while anyway so makes little difference for now. If it were for the 55 only, it might not be worth doing because it would be replaced before long, but it depends on what would have happened to the Spuds after that.

Hi all,
Just to clarify, both 31140 and 60629 are being repaired from the Sheffield accident. Its cost vs' accounting value.
I'm less sure about the SPUD, but i suspect that the damage looks worse than it is. In fact it doesn't look too bad at all. I doubt there's any pillar damage and the chassis should be ok. Repairing suspension is a daily task anyway.
The unfortunate thing is that its another bus off the road. Yes, Geminis will eventually replace the SPUDs which will then go elsewhere to convert other routes. Therefore, for other routes sake, and for the 55 until they arrive (up to 10 months away yet) a missing bus isn't helpful.
Have to say, i think it will therefore be repaired.
