Yesterday, I went surf the net on GMPTE. I saw First in Wigan are change timetable for minor and peak period.
The route are : 32,33,540,559,593,631,632,658.
32 Manchester to Wigan 33 Manchester to Wigan via Eccles 540 Bolton to Wigan 559 Bolton to Wigan 593 Leigh to Wigan 631 and 632 Highfield Grange to Wigan 658 HIgher Fold to Wigan via Leigh.
There is no change timetable is 600/1, 610,611/2, 625/6 621/8 635. Any idea why they not change route timetable?
May I ask what minor and peak period mean?
Thank you, Martyn

I see First have recently recast their services around Walkden. I picked up a change leaflet in Manchester on Saturday and the changes seem to have been pretty drastic

I know, Humberside,
Im so totally stress of First in Manchester that all, He never aware in Manchester area or Wigan. There is no new bus in Wigan, or Bury(Bury got new bus of 10 B7RLE 69221-69230) Oldham got new and Bolton got it this year, Manchester. And why not Wigan? But 611/2 and 635 got new bus MX55 reg. So I think Wigan will get poor bus, I believe so.

Perhaps there is more money to be made in other parts of Greater Manchester than in Wigan?

My Wigan is in Gtr Manchester authority but you could be right, and I can't understand this. Wigan depot got Wright B10BLE, B10L and B10B and Dennis Darts SLF PLaxton, Optare Excel are over 100 buses. To be believe new bus will come in 2010 .
Cheers, Martyn

Wigan is usually overl looked. Compared to the rest of the First Manchester network, it is quite isolated. A very large proportion of First Manchester buses, regardless of depot, actually operated routes that go in and out of the city centre. Wigan only has the 32/33. Bury does alright though, they now have Oldhams citaro's. Manchester Queens Road up until fairly recently operated a pile of shite including old metrobuses and olympians but on the other hand it is often said Oldham gets the new buses as it is the HQ. Very true, Oldham have an excellent fleet.

But do you have a idea why Oldham HQ not give new bus to Wigan for Overground and unbranded like 631/2 or 610 or other route like that? as I mention it will come 2010 or under 2010(I can't confirm) from Yahoo's GmBuses group/First Group Fans group. There is a quite few borrow from school Ince nr Wigan got Dennis Arrow/East Lancs Pyoneer and NC double decker use come Wigan service. I think Wigan Buses will get rusty or become weaker in other year/2008. I hope not, Manclad.
Oh, 32/33 used by Volvo B10B Endurance every day, OMG except 60315 so nice and smooth. when I catch the bus (60315) last Tuesday from wigan to my area(631), it is so nice engine, I love it. So 32,33 sometime have a double decker(East Lancs Pyoneer) as I saw it last week. 611/2 and 635 got new bus MX55 one year old. "Why not just every route get new buses, As Oldham HQ said no" Grrrr .

From the timetables I got on Saturday in Manchester I see they now have some overground routes in Greater Manchester. What towns have the overground branding - I take it Manchester itself doesn't?

First Manchester have had an underground network for over 2 years. The only thing was that there was a very half hearted effort to brand. A converted effort has only come in the last 10 months to a year and many routes are now being branded. Once again though, most of the branding at the moment are on Oldham based routes into Manchester. The Manchester Overground network is actually a Greater Manchester network and is not seperated into towns like South Yorkshire. Most of the Overground routes do actually serve Manchester City Centre.
