Due to 61211 having static Orange LED Destination display's, which means the side and rear flip-dot displays are not working and the displays are operated by seperate unit's I was wondering why First do not take a flip-dot unit out of say a B10L, such as 61487 ( which does not have side of rear display), put it into 61211 and link up to the side and rear display-so it can be used on the SQP and put the Orange LED Display into the B10L.
Just thoughts on the subject, and could be one extra bus on the SQP.

I am pretty certain 61211 did have all three blinds working correctly until a few months back, just like when the LED Units & Dot Matrix Units were working together on the Barnsley B10BLE's and they can be fitted to work correctly together as other operates have shown us, even Manual Blinds and LED blinds like the units on Trent Barton vehicles.

Do Trent Barton not use powerblinds? If so these can link to flipdots or LED screens, as the controller is basically the same, I believe.

Yes, Trent Barton (and Kinchbus) have the powerblinds at the front, with LED's at the side and rear. From looking in the cab, all three displays are linked as I think the driver simply flips through the destinations on a keypad. But don't forget, all the routes have specific buses assigned to them, e.g. Rainbow 1-5, Sprint etc, so at most they only flip between two displays most days.

I believe the dot matrix blinds on 61211 were disabled because of misuse and the bus is still awaiting its transplant.
Do we need another thread on this bus and its 'wacky blinds'.

I just thought it was interesting. Another question about this bus, and I'm sorry to ask this, but I would like to know if this bus COULD run on the SQP without side and rear displays and what are the requirements for the SQP? I cant find the answer?

So far as i know, the requirement is effectively DDA compliant which means buses with numbers and destinations side and front, and number on the rear.
Therefore, it shouldn't really be used no. However, these things can fail (i saw 22428 yesterday for example with its rear failed in service) and there has to be a level of common sense and lenience for certain instances.
The important thing is resolution of a problem.

I’ve noticed I’ve not seen 61211 around much, has it changed blinds-I used to notice the LED Blind, or is it not in Service
Also if its not had a blind change-what type of LED Blind is it, because of the Different Font to the normal LED Blinds.

Sean 61211 is now the regular 218 bus. it has a britec front blind that is non-standard and will not reprogramme. the normal hanover side and rear have packed up so it is not eligable for nsqp work. 60602 was the 218 bus but kept breaking down in daft places like taddington turn off.

Couldn't a hanover front unit from one of the B10L's be swapped with the britec unit of 61211, or would it not be possible?

Lets have a guess - perhaps service PVS, Sheffield-Carlton, no return trip.... but of course they're low floor.......

Staying at Sheffield? Rotherham? Doncaster? Anyone? ;D staying in sheffield. replacing palatines... Not on the Stocksbridges ? That would be too silly to be true , especially if instead of Olympians. We've just got rid of most of the worst examples (now on Unilink), perhaps with 34246 and 30547 as exceptions. Saying that, they would be OK on the odd B10M allocated journeys. Personally I've nothing against them really, I'm assuming if they do replace Palatines, that these will go elsewhere?
