The back end is let down a bit where the two halves of the casting join because it causes a big sticky out section which just dosnt look right. plus I know what you are saying about the painted on lights!

The Mk1 facelift is in actual fact the B-series specification where Leyland took out the roof mounted heating system and put normal box type heaters under the seats and a demister rad (hence the louvres) after pressure from NBC for a simpler bus to maintain. It applied mainly to the short wheelbase Mk1 and also to most Mk2s and the Mk2 prototype which had Mk1 styling. The remodelled Mk1s were the phase 2s which took onboard weight redistribution and modifications trialled by NBC company Northern General-these were the shorter pod and batterys moved to the o/s front from under the seats. Thses generally entered service from N-reg onwards. However a number of companys took phase 2s with phase 1 pods such as YTCs NWG-R/OWF-Rs.

IIRC the KWA-Ws had the number plate on the n/s of the engine door and no destination blinds at the rear. They did not have the lense for reversing in the window either (what would health & safety say about using that these days!).I often wondered about these as I trundled round Stocksbridge on Tracky's Nationals as a young 'un, was that lens at all effective? On a Mk1 covered in engine oil....

Blimey CS1!! couldnt you be a little more specific! ;D Well if you are going to model Nationals you need to get the details right, they didnt all come in one shape and colour as many think. yeah EFE seem to think there was just long and short ones with one or two doors. and never mind all the small details like pod length and vents etc etc... thats where transit comes in! ;D

I prefer Corgi Original Omnibus personally although I can't tell the difference with the Nationals. ;D

Some of the EFE models are a bit wrong with Volvo B6 M626 VHE on Dart Pointer bodywork & chassis & their versions of Barbie 2 (fade out livery).

...good find Andy ! - this is after it had recieved another repaint (4 yearly makeover) and lost the roof lettering ect , and blended back into standard livery with the rest of the batch . It has also recieved the darker shade of brown and the newer style fleetnames , and also gained the red on the centre doors which indicated wheelchair access (note the orange board ) - i would date it around 81-82 ?
