Transit do you use primer on the resin kit and if so what type and what colour. I am doing a red and yellow version, if it goes good i might try to add the silver and blue bands as well.

....firstly , make sure you wash all the resin body under a running tap with white toothpaste, (not the coloured gel stuff) and an old soft toothbrush ! Daft as it sounds , the tp is a mild abrasive , and will gently scour the surface , and remove any residue or chemicals on the surfaces left from the casting process . It also gives a good key for the paint When washed and fully dried , i would then do any body mods or filling if needed. Then apply the primer ( i use Halfords Car Primer in white and grey) giving a light coat . Repeat after 5 mins , again only a light coat , then if need be , give another light coat till fully covered - NEVER try to prime in one heavy coat , as you will ruin the model ! Take your time and just give light coats until covered. I would then leave to fully dry and harden for 24 hrs, before gently rubbing down with 1200 wet and dry , used wet , again uder a running tap. Be careful to not rub through any mouldings , beading lines ect . You are just aiming for a smooth surface .when happy with the surface , rinse and thoroughly dry. You will then be ready for the final top coats of chosen livery ! *btw , always use WHITE primer for the Mainline livery (and SYT) , as the reds tend to go dark over a grey primer ! I use Humbrol acrylic Hobby Spray 19 (red) and 69 (yellow) for the Mainline livery, available from model shops or Hobbycraft ect.* Good luck - hope this helps !

A further query that you may be able to help me with Transit, how do you do the 2 sunroofs on top of roof-dimensions etc?
Thanks

...i made the windows approx 10 x 12 mm square . Draw a centre line in pencil down the full length of the roof . Then draw a horizontal line across the centre of window bays 2 and 5. Now you have the two centre points . Draw the correct size to be removed. Drill the resin in the centre carefully with a small drill bit, then use the side of the drill bit to gradually cyt the opening bigger, until about 1mm from finished hole size. Finally file to correct shape with needle files . When fitting the sunroof , i use "smoked" plastic cut 1mm larger, gently rounded on the corners , then a line of silver is painted around the edge . When dry, i then put a bit of glue around the hole surround on the roof , and then place the "sunroof" onto the bus roof. Hope this helps !

Can the radiator grill on the side be filled in using the humbrol model filler or is there a special version for resin kits.

...can be filled with fine car body filler , or model filler - usually takes a couple of times. Just be careful not to catch the nearby body mouldings when rubbing down !
