Just remembered, I saw the SYT liveried B9 being dragged North on the A1 last week. Curtains or repair elsewhere? 37529 Front RTC damage, I’m told it’s gone to Bus+coach world in Blackburn for repair. End life buses with less substantial damage have gone to PVS in the past

Already returned but was sent on loan along with some other vehicles from west yorkshire. They were sent on loan as York had an issue after having a power cut

Buses are designed to get in to scrapes and the front ends are rather robust. The only bus that I recall coming off worse was an ALX400 that hit a Range Rover on Birley Spa Lane and the entrance step collapsed, I think it was sorn.

A very good chance it would get scrapped considering its age - a few of its mates have already gone!

Presume it was the cost.

It’d be a shame to see one of the more interesting vehicles scrapped, especially with the “No Smoking” stickers in the windows (lovely touch)
But First seem to only paint buses in heritage colours once they are fairly mid life so they don’t last
And a lot of the local fleet is of a similar vintage, with the clock ticking…

I get the feeling first felt they had quite a negative brand perception so looked to break away from it. There are way too many issues within First at the moment centering round all the mini empires built up by mediocre middle managers to try and protect themselves. A good Start was made in breaking some of them locally but the GM who was doing it was undervalued despite the figures showing his work was paying off. A lot of his work is being undone now by the idiots he was in the process of removing. Quality repaints were applied to many of the fleet before the inevitable corner cutting kicked in and once again shoddy repaints are the norm. First are under No illusions that their brand is damaged, this was highlighted over 10 years ago in meetings at the time. It must cost Go Ahead fortunes on resprays Go ahead have standards of Fleet presentation throughout the group and factor this into their running costs. Employing and training High quality painters need not be prohibitive and the results speak for themselves. ( No buses with 12 year old paint on Go ahead). Interesting fact, "Buses of Somerset" was kicked off by a manager who came from Go-Ahead

As debated a number of times previously, 16 years old is mid-end life of a bus nowadays. So many more things to go wrong with modern vehicles, all in the name of efficiency and accessibility. Don’t forget a Metrobus may have been great at 28 years old but no use to anybody in a wheelchair!

Presume it was the cost. It was repainted into “standard” livery just after 37529 had been painted into SYT livery and 69527 into Mainline livery. I think it was done because it looked tatty and possibly the amount of heritage liveried buses
