The B7s seemed to be a mixed bunch- there were some real fliers but some that just made a noise and didn't do much else. The original B7LA batch seemed ok but had rock-hard suspension, which was unpleasant. The Streetcar versions are comfier but slow.
Unlike the Spuds ;D which are now uncomfortable and slow, these days.
Is Tracky 207 (sounds a good one to find!) going to be/has been repainted into Stagecoach colours? The buses which have been repainted look quite good now. Are they going to repaint the purple/yellow Scanias that usually do the X19?

One would imagine they'd be some of the last to be done - as they were relatively new paint jobs when Stagecoach took over.

Everything should be getting painted in due course, bar vehicles identified for disposal (mainly older Darts, Metroriders and some DAF/Optares). At present Barnsley can only paint 3 vehicles per week due to paintshop space, though now Chesterfield are part of Yorkshire hopefully Stonegravels will be doing some as well.

Not at all, vehicles are being done as and when required - anything that has been in for MOT prep or any bodywork will be done, plus they are now making an effort to get all vehicles of certain types done. Several purple and yellow (horrible livery !) vehicles have been done already, and Omnidekka 807 was to be one of the very first Stagecoach repaints but it's place in the paintshop queue was poached by another vehicle

PS Tom - i'm sure you don't need to tell us the answer. One less member of the SPD fan club! That said, last time i travelled on a Doncaster B10M (643 i think) i have to say it was a bit of a disgrace. [/quote]
I have to point out that 643 isn't one of doncasters best b10m's looks a bit shabby now that the yellow paint is starting to come through. Next time try to get 642 or 646 as they are better.

With all due fairness although i will always try and pick faults in the vehicles (as applicable) but i aint out there to use specific vehicles. Believe it or not, some of us use buses to get places, not to tick them off lists! That said, if the opportunity arises to catch the above, i will do so.
And in fairness, i wasn't talking about the uninspiring state of the exterior, but the rather tatty interior. Pound for pound i would guess they are all similar internally at DO (at least the unrefurbished ones - 640-650)

The seatbacks as used on some of the B10Ms seem more resistant to vandalism than the newer ones- the shiny plastic ones don't seem to be as vulnerable as the textured new ones as seen on the Spuds, so they can often be more pleasant inside, particularly as the paint on the poles inside the Spuds doesn't seem to like staying on the pole.
While we're on it, is there a reason why some Spuds have three tip-down seats in the wheelchair area and others have only two? (the 'missing' one is rear-facing)

B6s - Ugh! Horrible machines. For anybody like me with short legs, you are left with your left foot dangling in mid air. The B10Ms at Ecclesfield were quite pleasant to drive and the Leyland Olympians with Cummins engines were the best. Talking of Scanias, those odd looking buses that Yorkshire Terrier used to own were uncomfortable to drive but the performance was realy something. Some of these were rebodied and sent to Barnsley & District and according to some of their drivers they were still uncomfortable to drive.
