[FSY] N247 CKY was seen on the wicker in sheffield city centre earlier today in it's new b1 livery lookeds really good, and clean how long has this bus being repainted into b1 livery as i am sure i only saw it last saturday on it's normal workings the x78.
Also on a serperate not H648 RKU was operating on the x78 route today aswell is this just to cover for the normal buses on the x78 route getting repainted or is it a shortage of buses at doncaster or rotherham?
Ta, sam

Not sure how long it has been repainted, also G622 NWA has been repainted into B1 livery. Was done around 2 weeks ago, only thing that lets it down is the bit around the lights is still black, looks a bit odd.

I wouldn't get too concerned over the appearance of '648', such things are legion these days. Long gone are the days when 741-8 (or occasionally 749-54 as well) were the sole diet for the X78.
Don't read repaint into it, its probably just that the N-CKYs were operating other routes. These days B10Ms tend to be seen as B10Ms irrespective of age as they are now not seen as the 'front line'.

yea Doncasters G & H reg buses do run often on the x78, while on the same day x78 branded buses run on other routes around doncaster. Odd but look of the draw i guess.

Also on the rotherham board 759 and 716/7/20/1/2/3 are allways on the x78 now but 757 and 758 seem to go off onto other bus routes like the 17, 66 and the 43/43a.
There is also some h reg rotherham b10ms on that route sometimes but mostly 741-7 and 753-6 are mostly on x78 route on doncaster board.

Do they just give the driver his timetable/running board and say "pick a bus and off you go" or do they say "take bus 2265" or whatever?

Buses are allocated by erm.....allocators. Just not able to rely upon accuracy!

Saw this bus for the first time and the back bumper was all in purple whilst n746 cky is purple and pink like the recent repaintes at halfway with buses such as h667 thl which is now a rotherham bus having the mixed colour back bumper but n742 cky does not have this mixed back bumper so it is like n748 cky.

The funny one's with the pink and purple bumpers (that are sprayed for reference) are done at Bryn Hardies in Wigan if memory serves.

The only trouble is that there might be drivers who have to miss work because of injuries received during the scramble for the best buses. ;D

If a "professional" allocator is doing it, why do we see stupid allocations - Olly on the 80 when there's a B10M on the 87, for example. Plus the "low floor minibus" 205 being run by ex-London or ex-WBH Farts. Should just say "you can take any Dart SPD apart from the ones under maintainance".

Because, in my experience, our allocators are some of the most capable and experienced guys around the depot - but they can't be bothered at times. Its a shame because if they really tried they'd do it no problem. They just don't think it through anymore.

Why not write a program to do it? Input the buses and routes and criteria for routes, and it could be worked out easily. Pigeonhole specific buses - spuds on the 55/57/58, Ollys on the 84/87/88, Solos on the 205 etc etc for routes with specific types - and then what's left can fit in other routes.
