First is celebrating after the DFT have announced that First has been awarded Greater Western/Thames Link and Great Northern. The franchises will be worth over £1 billion a year in revenue these awards will make First the UKs largest rail operator.
Franchise agreements start from April 1st
They have also pre-qualified for the south western franchise.

so i bet that will have upset stagecoach who was hoping to be first they are now the second for trains and buses.

Sure,,,,Stagecoach may have to look in all directions to prevent themselves being shafted.....they must be as ruthless as First to survive.

I'm sure the idea of privatisation is often said to be that competition will improve the situation for users...well that isn't exactly going to happen if First becomes almost a transport monopoly, is it?
