the site has recently been cleared of tree growth, even the one growing thru the old crane!
whats coming next, suggestions include midland mainline meridien depot a few years ago, freightliner depot/stabling point. reusing for network rail.....

I think it will be a Network Rail track plant depot (tampers etc)

I will go with the 1st idea. I believe MML are finding it difficult to service at Derby.

Rail 535 says Network Rail will open a 'heavy maintenance facility costing £40 million at Beighton Yard'. To be completed by 2008. It 'will undertake such tasks as heavy maintenance on rail delivery trains, grinders, stoneblowers, the seasonal treatment fleet and the track monitoring fleet'. 800 piece of eqiupment will be maintaned at the facility

The June edition of Railway Magazine confirms that it will be a plant maintenance facility.

I'm glad there finaly doing something with the site at last i am too it just looks a really big mess at the minute but rotherham council are building on the rotherham side think its new offices and manufacturing parks etc.
