Rail changes Settle - Carlisle route re-opens, as the Dearne Valley Line shuts for two weeks. The closure of the Settle - Carlisle route is expected to end as planned on 31 July. The next set of track renewals will take place in October - see our Disruptions and Diversion page for more information.
On the Dearne Valley Line (York - Sheffield via Pontefract Baghill), work to renew and replace track means there will be no services from Monday 31 July to Saturday 12 August. Northern trains will be withdrawn throughout this period. A rail replacement bus service will operate between York and Swinton (York and Meadowhall on Sunday 6 August due to work taking place in the Rotherham area), departing originating station at advertised times but with extended journey times, and connecting into or out of other trains at Swinton or Meadowhall.
Additionally, work in the Rotherham area on Sundays 30 July and 6 & 13 August will result in no Dearne Valley Line or Wakefield Line services stopping at Rotherham Central. These services will be diverted via the former Rotherham Masborough station (not calling), with buses connecting Rotherham to Swinton and Meadowhall.
