What ever came about of this when it was 1st posted last year? Is this still going to be happening in the future or is it now just remaining a full South Yorkshire forum?

Members decided at the time on both the South Yorkshire & West Yorkshire forums that a merger between the 2 forums was not the best situation at that time and hence it didn't occur.
As you may or may not know, we no longer run the East Midlands or West Yorkshire forums now, so if a new Yorkshire wide transport forum was to be created, this would need the consent of not only the majority of the members, but also the new owners Jack and Craig of the West Yorkshire forum.
We will continue to look into this possibility along with improving the forum to make it even better.
As ever any comments and feedback are greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Staff at South Yorkshire Transport

Sorry about my late response,
Thank you for clearing that up, it's just that I couldn't find the original thread on this subject from last year on the forum.
It would be nice if we could see a Yorkshire wide forum be set up, though I know a few members on this and the West Yorkshire site were not in favour of this for one reason or another.
Could a poll not be held again after discussions have taken place with management on both sites to see if such a site could be created? In my view it would make the site much better and with the old proposals, the 4 sub-counties of Yorkshire would remain separate, so basically as it is at the moment.
I'm sure most members would be in favour of such a move as the poll showed this last year. Is the old thread and poll still on the forum? as I've searched the site, but sadly to no avail.

After discussions have taken place between myself, Craig and Jack regarding the possible merger of the two forums, and following on from the outcome of these discussions, I will then have a discussion with staff members on the forum. If this is all accepted it will then go for a member vote/discussion on both forums to see if the changes should proceed ahead or not.
If any change does happen, this will not commence until at least the end of 2010 when our existing domain name is up for renewal again.
The old thread was part of a number of threads and posts (around 15,000) that were accidentally deleted during a glitch/bug in the form software. This affected the Announcements, Feedback, Rules & Guidelines and Bus Travel sections of the forum only. Sadly there is no way to retrieve these messages, they are essentially lost in cyberspace!
Thanks, Staff at South Yorkshire Transport

Good to hear that and hopefully it will all come about and actually happen this time around. Especially as I'm in West Yorkshire most days now and most of my family still live around the Leeds area. I'm sure most people would be in favour of this happening, though I'm sure there will be a few who will have reservations about such a merger. Now that's why I couldn't find that thread. Explains that one then. Thank you

I personally would like to keep it local as it is. There is a West Yorkshire transport forum (actually there is two now!), and to merge them would also mean including York. I'm not in fvour myself, I would rather be a member on two seperate forums.

Just a thought,....as "regionalisation" seems inevitable, would there be any merit in having a Sheffield City Region or even a Yorkshire and Humber forum?
