Makes a change to see a capital city getting cast offs from South Yorkshire, instead of the other way round

As you may have seen, the allocation policy of First Edinburgh makes FSY look good. They run from Livvi and tend to (IME) show up on basically any route which Livvi operates (anything going to West Lothian - 27s, 28s, 12s, 16s, 10s etc NOTE these are the Firstbus routes, they do clash with several LRT routes but are completely different!). Quite a few seem to just do rush buses, so perhaps the best way of doing it is to hang around Waterloo Place approx 4pm and hopping on the first one which comes! (You might be able to catch one so far as Hermiston, say, then catch a proper bus back ). Makes a change to see a capital city getting cast offs from South Yorkshire, instead of the other way round The difference is that only a lunatic would catch a Firstbus in Edinburgh, unless they had no choice .

You know there's something up with the allocations when they put bus-seated Scanias on a 3 hour express! I can't seem to work out the deal with the 86 either, it seems to be mainly Geminis but with a good few Royales and even some P-TGDs with Mainline moquette. And I'm not even close to working out the allocations on the stuff that comes in from the East and West! Thanks for the advice, I looked up the area on Street View as I wasn't sure where the buses actually turned around to get onto Waterloo Place westbound, and by chance found another B10M (a refurbed one) sitting there in the photo.

I wondered about it for a while, but there doesn't seem to be any logic to it whatsoever! 44s can be amusing - there can be a Dart, followed by some Scania thing, followed by a Royale, followed by an Optare Prisma, followed by a coach! It has got better in the 2 years I've lived here, though, some of the relics which used to be on 86s (and erstwhile 78s and X78s) was shocking! There's a mini roundabout which they (and X25s) turn on, suffice to say it can be interesting!

As an aside, the turning circle at the top of Regent Terrace you mention, is a real bugger. Just like the one at Waverley, it isn't big enough for the purpose intended, and a number of drivers have ended up in the railings or the lampost at Regent. First allocation proceedures make no sense to anybody. The ex Wales coaches should have gone on to the X95, but, the amount of time it takes to close the doors on these vehicles (opening the door dis-engages the gears) was leading to problems with timekeeping, and as the route has to be scheduled with European regs, precluding lawful operation. As for the 44 in Edinburgh, watch this space!!!!!

Of course, really the roundabout at Waverley isn't intended for turning buses on, but there seems to be a bit of an issue in using the Mound at the moment!
Isn't there space to widen the roundabout slightly? Alternatively, maybe "Calton Hill" can be put on the next blinds and the X25s can turn there ;D!
I did have a First 44 stop for me in Dalry the other day - I don't think the driver took too kindly to being told no thanks, I'm waiting on a proper one!

Good one to try, then you could use the junkies as traffic cones! Personally, I wouldn't fancy going to Calton Hill after dark - dodgy!

FWIW, 741 was on a 28 at Shandwick Place about 1830 today.
