Welcome to the thread & poll for the December 2009 Background Photo. We'd like to thank all members who submitted photos to us this month and to all members who have submitted photos in to us since August 2006. Sadly there can only be 6 photos that go through to the poll and these have been carefully selected by the staff members on the forum.
We would ask all members to vote in the poll so you can have your say and cast your vote for the photo which you think deserves to be placed on the background of the forum. Remember if you are a new member you will not see the background photo by default. In order to view the background photo you need to select the SYT skin in your profile.
Poll Closing Date - The Poll will be closed automatically on Tuesday 1st December 2009, and the new background photo will be uploaded on to the forum on that date.
How To Select - You just simply look at the numbers at the side of the photo, select your best one, out of the 6, then vote for that number in the poll. In the event of a tie, both photos will be displayed on the forum for a period of 2 weeks each.
We would also like to take this time to thank each and every one of you for your continued support in making the forum what it is today.
Thanks, Staff at South Yorkshire Transport

mmm... not overly enamoured with the selection, but I've gone for #1, as it's a bit different and i'm a sucker for a bit of snow.

Option 1, no question - it's a completely historic scene as the routes no longer serve Meadowhall, the buses have been sold (though the Dash is still in Sheffield to this day) and the cooling towers no longer exist. As said, something a bit different, especially with the DAF/Paladin being quite an unusual vehicle. Plus, it's a great setup to get both routes together, since both were pretty infrequent at the time, and the snow just ads to the effect! It will be a shame if the interesting shot loses to the Dominator as usually happens...

Not keen on any of them this month so won't be voting.
(not that it makes a difference, I have the background turned off anyway!)

Got to be no 5 for me - I can't resist the night shots such as this.

It will be a shame if the interesting shot loses to the Dominator as usually happens... I agree with all of that. Most of the winning pictures are either a picture of an old bus (Halfway Garage, Meadowhall Rally) or a picture of a new bus (Stagecoach decker, Veola), and probably more to do with the vehicle itself than the picture. Number One isn't brand new, nor is it ancient. But it is a different perspective on buses from a couple of years ago with a bit of local history, plus it's a suitably winterish picture. Well done to whoever took it. (note, I'm not voting for my own picture)

...no 1 for its "atmosphere"! - but what i would like to know is no.4 -2490 , what has happened to this bus ? I know it was for sale (and sold)at the SYTT Open Day a couple of years back , but no sign of since? Also , as a keen modeller of all SY buses ,does anyone know the paint code/help/advice of the livery as depicted on this pic of 2490?Thanks.
