Alexander bodied AN68 , 287 - SWB 287L , which was converted to open top while still with SYT/ Mainline , has been found in apparently good condition ,on a farm down in Sussex !!!! The owners , Rabbit ..(as advertised on the bus ) are currently preparing it for the MOT , and use it through the summer months for corporate / special events ect . It is stored at the farm , and is not for sale ! Maybe worth keeping tabs on !!!!!!!! Heres the link to a couple of pics ..... i39.photobucket.com/albums/e2...e/IMG_0159.jpgi39.photobucket.com/albums/e2...e/IMG_0158.jpg

I would have thought the South Yorkshire Transport Museum would be making contact in the hope of some day adding it to their collection.

...this has been a great find after most people thought it was long scrapped ! - lets just hope they keep it undercover during rain ! - and although not currently for sale , maybe one day can be acquired and brought back home by some local group for preservation ? It was never listed as been scrapped , it was known that it was in sussex, after use by fsy it went to york then guide friday was used at bournemouth then its current users

As I said previously I wasn't aware it was lost.
Just because its not been seen or heard of for a while doesn't automatically assume its been scrapped!!

I was wondering the same thing with the title. Like busman3 i knew where it was so found it a bit strange when i came on yesterday to be greeted with Open Top 287 found. To found it, it has to be lost.

Sometimes it is better that vehicles are left to carry on there existance quietly without fuss , when there use at that location is over , they may suddenly appear quietly at a local museum !
Sometimes lots of publicity doesnt help the preservation cause !
