Very poor show , too many stalls and too few layouts , not one layout stood out as spectacular .£8.00 admission a real rip-off .

Unfortunatley I lot of people in this day and age cant predict that they will be able to go till the day , I do agree with the comment regarding too many stalls though , a lot more than last year. Some of the layouts were good though. Glad see proper full size vechicles on the shuttle though with posters so you knew what they were on - this is important as there is a reail rep on as well

... i went ---as always ! absolutely loved it once again !!!!!!!!!!!!! ...around 30 fully finished top quality layouts, 90 stalls selling every tool and accesorries model makers could ever need , many with model demonstrations and advice , and all in a 5 star warm , modern venue ! I would have gladly paid double the admission for the quality and service available !! I would be interested to know anywhere local that puts on a bigger or better show than this , as the above comments i truly cannot believe !? I await your replies !!!

Sorry , still think it was poor value for a lot of small layouts and why are there so few trains running , sometimes stand 5 minutes and not see any movement on the layout , it was a gloryfide market . A jacket potato and a tea £ 6.00, won"t be going next year .Even the stall holders were grumbling about the lack of layouts .

I expect that the Donny Racecourse will attract a higher rent than a hall in Cleethorpes. Trade stands will always be more lucrative than layouts as for one you are taking a stall fee, for the other you are paying expenses. When I last visited albeit a few years ago it was an excellent event.

A jacket potato and a tea £ 6.00, won"t be going next year . Can you name ANY exhibition centre/sporting venue of that size that offers cheaper food and drinks? No, I can't either... Believe it or not, Doncaster Racecourse is actually cheaper than many other places for food - Keepmoat Stadium, Sheffield Whatever Its Called Today Arena, Oakwell etc are all more expensive in my experience. The brilliant thing is though, you are not forced to buy anything there! The prices are clearly shown above each food stand, so if you thought they were expensive, why did you buy something? Asda's just across the road...

Well said Tom ! ...and still is my favourite of all shows, and the only one i would be dissapointed to miss, out of all other local shows! - and i've been to many over the years! To me it is even better now since the re-design of the whole exhibition centre and was only the 2nd show since then. As i said , for the amount of top quality finished layouts there , and advice and demos freely given , plus the stalls which sold everything you could ever need for modelling , the entrance fee was an absolute bargain (even more so pre-booked!) Anyway , i continue to post all up and coming shows and exhibitions for anybody interested.

Bacon butties , jacket spuds , chips , pizzas, and on Sunday even roast dinners !!!!!! all in 5* surroundings. If people didnt want to buy the food , there was a downstairs area of 25 tables and chairs , where people could eat their brought in food and drinks ! .....still waiting for news of a better local show and venue for the money ......

Hi Alexander , YES there is a FREE shuttle bus service between Doncaster Railway Station and the Racecourse. They will run continuously between 8.30am -5.15pm on both days. The bus stop will be just outside the main entrance of the Railway Station. In fairness to the Doncaster show, the free shuttle bus will have cost the organisers a few quid, which will presumably have put a little on the ticket price. When you go to Birkdale (etc) there's no such facility. If you consider the bus worth a pound each way, then suddenly the ticket price looks a good bit lower. If you found your own way there (and didn't use the free shuttle bus) then you may be less impressed. Got to compare the whole thing though.

In my opinion it was worth attending. 29 layouts and 91 traders. The ratio should be equal between layouts and traders. I think that the admission could be a bit lower and the £4 should certainly be for those under 18 and not 14. 15, 16, 17 year olds are not earning so they simply cannot afford £8. I was shocked when I got there and saw the sign. We didn't use the free shuttle bus either. I couldn't find it going out so we got a 57. I wanted to try and get some shots of the yard at DO so we walked down that way and ended up getting the 66 back.
