Was reading a section on Wikipedia (not the most reliable of sources, I know!) about South Yorkshire Transport (SYT) and a section of the article listed a full list of their competitors over the years since 1986 and one of them that stood out from the rest was Rotherham and District. All that I can find on the net is that this was a small company that was Sheffield owned (presumably the owner being similar named Sheffield and District?) but there was no further details available about their history, routes or vehicles that were used.
Anyone have any further information regarding Rotherham and District and any photos to hand. Similarly for Sheffield and District also as both are companies that I've never heard of before, or seen mentioned on here. Were both also sold on (and if so who to) or simply just ceased to exist?
Thanks in advance for any help provided.

They operated in Sheffield using 2 Routemasters 1 yellow & 1 dk blue and cream and I think they operated on rt 50 to Dore and I think a service to Bakewell . I think they also had an ex Stevensons DM still in there livery which was blown over into a field just outside Dore village .

I think they operated on rt 50 to Dore From memory it was the 5 to Dore via Ecclesall Road (rather than the Hallamshire), which interworked with the 72 to High Green (the old Groves route), I think both were half hourly. This was back in the day before High Green had the 75/76 running quite so frequently. SYT/ Mainline's response was the half hourly Sheafline 472 to High Green (back when Sheafline also ran the 474 to High Green via Grenoside). This was well before Sheffield Omnibus started their 72 to High Green

It got very complecated they ( or parts of they) were garaged with yorkshrie terrier @ the former central works site and with sheaf line at tinsley they ended up with a depot off nursery street.
At one time stevensons of uttoxeter had some involvement I think as it was one of there DMS's that got blown off the road at dore

Anybody know? For those interested on Fotopic somewhere there is a pic of a red routemaster of theirs on the X78, cant recall what site its on though.

I think a service to Bakewell . Anybody know which way the Bakewell service went? Was it based on the 240 route or did it go the Owler Bar way? I can recall their Dore service, but not this one.

I seem to remember one of the Routemasters breaking down on the Bakewell service and it stayed overnight in the Fox House pub car park being rescued next day .

Glynn Pegg was the guy who started this venture off his routematers, were on loan to groves for a while aswell. Then Stevensons took an intrest in this as they were looking to start up in the sheffield area, that's why there were Stevensons DMS and an ex Eastbourne East Lancs. Olympian on loan as well as a few other vechile types this then fell through, then there where the ex GM Buses Routemasters for a while these where all based at Terrier's Queens Road depot ,as already stated then Terrier took a share in ths aswell as they then painted about 3 of there nationals into the blue and cream livery.
Reason for Editing: Punctuation.

I have a picture of 109CLT somewhere with the lower half painted blue, will have to try and dig it out, I think it was going to end up in full R&D livery like WLT584 but never got completed
this was the good old days in Sheffield for me, can still hear the RM's Groves fleetlines and Dennis Dominators going past the end of my road

I don't remember Rotherham & District at all i remember Sheffield & District though 91/98 High Green services caught those quite regular don't think the two company's were in anyway related despite there names. Sheffield & District as discussed before in other threads were a company from another area competing against SYT as SYT was competing against there company in there area. Both company's ceased operating in each others areas and that was the end of Sheffield & District.
