Yes, a lot of them had been removed last night. Looks like a very sad end and a lot of people have lost a lot of archive stuff, never to be replaced.

before all this happened i got an email from them saying I hadnt logged in to my account in so many months and that if i dont log in for 6 months or something then my account would be deleted. this was only a matter of weeks before it closed so would this be a sign of desperation?

Not really Andy, it is normal for these companys to do this. Proboards had a big clear out of Site which have not been used about a year ago and as far as we know they are not in trouble. Also Photobucket do it as well unless you pay for Pro rate.
It now seem Google have drop Fotopic.net as well according to Facebook, so it does seem it has gone. What people are saying , that this is so people cannot see the T & C's. May be a tip for people who have Proboards, flickr etc to print a copy of the T & C's off.

I just think its strange i got that email on 3/3/11 saying "we are adding new stuff every month so check back in with us" then a week later the site is off, they must have known they were in trouble here is the email... Dear Andyrad, Remember us? We've still got 59 photos of yours online and we've kept 250MB disk space for you - but you haven't popped in to say hello! You held 1 gallery with us, at: Photos by Andyrad pics-by-andyrad.fotopic.netIt's more than 3 months since you last visited on September 3rd, 2010. We're adding new features to Fotopic every month, so you should come and check us out. For the moment though we'll set your account 'dormant', which means that your photos won't appear online. To reactivate your account, you should sign in. In case you've forgotten how, here's a quick refresher: 1. Go to my.fotopic.net 2. Log in using your email address: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and your password - if you've forgotten it, you can send yourself a reminder. 3. Your gallery will be reactivated immediately. Please note however that if you don't log in by September 3rd, 2011 (that's 6 months from now) we'll assume you don't want your Fotopic account and will remove it. Don't forget you can always get help on using your Fotopic account from us by emailing help@fotopic.net. With best wishes, The Fotopic Support Team Email us at: help@fotopic.net

Just look like a bog standard e-mail they send out to account holders.
Yes they would have known that they were in trouble, but to be fair no one is going to say anything. It has just happened with a truck company, who ceased trading at 5pm on Monday, yet one of their trucks were still delivering at Wakefield at 12 noon. This is how quick thing can change if the plug is pulled.

These emails are sent out automatically by computer. No-ones sat in an office typeing them personally.
Someone posted the T's and C's on the Facebook so they are still available.

Just been having a look at Companies House and accounts for Any Web were filed on the 8-03-11. It then looks as if the plug was pulled on the 9th. Sorry i am not good with reading things like this, but it does say something about being small.
A few people are saying beware of this Pikfu, as some of the address are the same as Fotopic. I know it is registered in Wakefield, as i have check on Companies House.

Google Picasa Web Albums is a good host, for those wanting to replace their Fotopics. I can't see that going under!

People will always have conspiracy theory's, which as we have already said could be avoided if someone at Fotopic would be kind enough to let us all know. It could just be that Joel Rowbottom lives in Wakefield or runs his business from there, but it does seem a little too much of a coincidence to me that Fotopic goes disapears and as everyones scrabbling for information this guy reveals he's launching a similar site to Fotopic, and yes before anyone says, im well aware Pikfu was registered in 2010, well before Fotopic went down.

A lot of hard work went into building up my fotopic galleries and now its all gone However I'm glad I didn't rewnew my subscription Any suggestions as to an alternative? As with you Steve, all my hard work is gone. Obviously I still have the original pics which I can upload to another hosting site, but I am a little wary now. I was a free user, as I posted the pics purely to share with other enthusiasts (I sold one photo in 2 years), so I don't particularly want to pay much in the way of fees. I also don't have a lot of spare time for admin work, otherwise I might have considered starting my own website (but then again there is the issue of which web host is best?). Pacer - you say you've started moving your galleries. How do you do that - I can't log in to Fotopic at all, or do you mean you've started again from scratch?

If you do want to start your own website, i use Proboard. At the moment i have two websites, but as you say, if you are going to do it on your own, you do need some time for the admin side.
