They are an absolute credit Transit-im really taken with the Metrobus, those photos and questions from a few months back look to have paid off-the detail on the o/s is spot on.

Very good models. I liked the model of G632NWA and the one of R86XHL in mainline livery. The person who had them sometimes brings his models to the Museum event day and they excellent.

I was disapointed last year very little or no lcoal stuff, what was local ie sheffield transport study group was sutffed in a corner Too many displays not finished and a cup of coffee dumped in the middle of a bus layout for over an hour ! Lets hope its better this year I thought that last years show was superb. Please remember this is a show of model buses held in Sheffield, not a show of Sheffield bus models. The main purpose of this show is for members of the model bus federation to exhibit and discuss their models. Any other exhibits are secondary to the main event. I personally enjoy good models from any area of the country. Members travel from all over the country to exhibit or just to attend this event. The MBF is a national organistion that has its roots in Sheffield but is spread across the country with shows many times a year. They do invite some of the local transport related groups to attend but have a much wider remit than these parochial organistions. Works in progress can often be brought long and are sometimes offered for appeals for further info. Well done to transit for his models, they look superb. Wish I could have attended as this is by far the best run local transport show.

....this years show has recieved more praise than any previous as it had more Sheffield stuff on show for the Sheffield public who are encouraged in as they pass through the city centre . Along with the publicity in local model shops and forums ect , the Sheffield visitors DO EXPECT to see local models which they can relate to , so this years show had a good mix , with more local stuff , which the local paying public ,could relate to,and appreciate, thus making them enjoy going , and hopefully will come again next time. I will try and do my best for more of the same next year! - Just to finish , i think if you research , the majority of paying customers is around 80% local public and enthusiasts. LAST years show was SO dissapointing for so many people, as there was hardly anything of local interest ! - Enough said !

...just to re-iterate on the above - just heard that this years show was a record breaker in attendance (from the previous 5 years - and raised just short of £1000 (source - MBF Forum) So as much / more Sheff- local stuff is obviously the way forward !!!??

LAST years show was SO dissapointing for so many people, as there was hardly anything of local interest ! - Enough said ! I would not dispute the above, Its just a shame that it is so. I would personally find it really boring to attend such a show. (A bit like going to a London show / rally). The commercial success of shows never used to be a concern with the MBF and the shows were a "come and join us" exercise not a "customer satisfaction" exercise. The majority of (then) current members were recruited that way and the public that did not like it did not come back. The MBF grew in strength and members traveled to other shows. I have not been a member for some time and am disappointed to see that so few members from other areas seem to travel to shows now. Pleased I am no longer a member based on the above. Looks like most are just die-cast collectors now. The ones I used to attend regularly were 75% visiting members. The increased attendance this year is most likely down to the fact that it was advertised locally at all unlike previous years where it was a closely gaurded secret.

in reply to the above , let me just state i have, and still am a member of the MBF for over 30 years. I reguarly attend the meetings at the venue throughout the year. 1 - If you are a Sheffielder , why would a Sheff themed display be boring? 2 - the commercial side is allowing in the general public ,which maybe gain a few more members (and younger!) and gain awareness of the hobby. Closely guarded secret shows (as you put it ) only serve the existing members and dont build or make future growth in the Federation , only gradual decline .There are plenty of these to attend if you so wish , both meetings and shows. 3 - The majority of members are of the "senior" group . I am nearly 50 and am one of the youngest locally !!!!! we need to encourage more of the younger generation to get involved. 4 - the increased attendance WAS down to advertising locally , as that way the show would attract the customers to attend thus making the whole thing viable and the success that it was . 5 - Most members did travel with their displays - even i did a 70 mile round trip - but we had more Sheff stuff on display , for a majority of Sheff visitors - to identify and reminisce with - who have all said it was the best show yet ! 6 - The whole event was organised by THE founder of the MBF way back in 1968, and with local help for this show , so if he was happy ........!!!! 7- As for diecast collectors , although we have hundreds more available models which you can just buy "off the shelf" than you could 20 years ago ,i can assure you , you wouldnt find any of MY models, and most MBF members who display ,available straight off the shelf ! 8 - YOU didnt even attend , so how can you comment - except for the standard of previous years !!, which always gained critisism from local enthusiasts/public who were encouraged to attend and ended up seeing very little of local interest !!!! ?? Surely even you must admit this is the way forward
