Noticed a Dennis pointer dart in service for powells a few days ago that I hadn't seen before. T468EGT. Has this been at powells for a while or a recent acquisition

A recent acquisition looks to be an Alexander ALX400 (not sure but likely to be a Dennis Trident engine), with select registration AD02 POW. It was in allover white with Powells logos, and it was on the 683 college run this morning. I read on a yahoo group site that are 2 here but 5 due in total. Surprised me when I went to college and saw a decent looking powells bus to get on. Brakes are a bit squeaky but apart from that it was good on the 681

Am I right in thinking that the oldest decker left is now L247SDY? Can still remember those olympians and metrobuses running round Sheffield when powells operated the 82 and 97 routes. OFS683Y and GYE604W were favourites of mine.

Haven't seen many of their deckers in a while, even though I could theoretically see 10+ of their buses each day. The TRC buses are done by single deckers or coaches, the new decker hasn't been seen in a while. Maybe in the paintshop to go into Powells blue?

Nice to be reminded of the time when Powells competed commercially - in the days when Tracky's Terrier operation was suffering a "death of a thousand cuts" - before Stagecoach gave some serious competition on routes like Ecclesall/ Parson Cross - Powells filled that gap with their vehicles (between school runs). Must be ten years ago now since those routes were withdrawn?

I remember back in summer 2004 when first were on strike the powells 97 was the only way into town from southey green and most of the buses had standing loads especially the 3.15 to southey as that was the last bus. Was a nice change to travel on olympians and metrobuses

Optate solo KX03KZC is now in service wearing new fleet livery, at least 1 more solo has been acquired but has evaded me to press.

I haven't the fleet number but one of the buses that normally does the Thomas Rotherham College 681 crashed last week. It's off the road as the 680/681 have been combined into one service this past week.
