It is reported on the YTC Yahoo Group that Powells have/are acquiring the following:
H802BKK N326HGK N137AET
Withdrawn are: E910KYR E914KYR
It is not 100% confirmed, so can anyone confirm on here?
Thanks, Metromadman.

That would figure. I was told last weekend that they were getting some Volvo Olympians and all the Leyland Olympians were due for disposal by the end of this year.

N137AET I believe used to operate out of Chestefield, it was the Olympian which for a time wore the old East Midlands livery as well.
Interesting that they've got two N reg ones then a H reg one (so what 5 - 6 yrs older?) I'd have thought it'd be quite easy to get a third N reg or similar age one if they'd wanted (I presume the H reg one must have been going quite cheap).
I wonder if any time soon they'll look at enhancing the main service fleet? I.E. something newer to replace the R reg UVG Darts/ the early P/R reg Excels.
I wonder how long the Scania and K429 OKH have got left? Is the K reg the longest serving member in the bus fleet?

They have also purchased a B10M/Alexander as well i believe. Interesting as people want to preserve one.

I am sure it was reported that Powells had purchased N318/319VMS some time ago. But i only ever see N317/320VMS in service, am i just missing them or did they not enter service with Powells?

Both N318/N319 are in service. N318 has a flipdot blind on the front.

Will be interesting to see which style of livery the 'new' Olympians will get. As Powells seem to paint them in a different livery.

Agreed, I cant imagine it'll get a full repaint into the single decker style livery, perhaps change the blue to another type of blue and thats it?
It seems their standard of presentation has gone down over the years, with deckers in modified former owners liveries & single deckers in a more plain (some just blue) livery.

Yeah, now I think of it they somehow managed to paint all their OFS-Y Olympians and Mk1 Metrobuses in blue and orange, despite their general scruffiness. What was odd though is that they gave F772EKM a full repaint, but put it into a version of the Blackburn cover-up livery the E-KYRs carried, rather than the standard blue. F354WSC looks better, but they still cut corners by leaving on the white portions of the Lothian livery, only leaving on the madder. Yet they did put on the Blackburn-inspired stripe which the single deckers don't have. It's anyone's guess how these latest ones will come out!

Indeed, as I mentioned previously it seems an odd purchase in comparrison to the other two if they want rid of Leylands and if they want to reduce age profile (why not get another Volvo of a similar age?), I suspect they've gone for the cheapest they could find hence the H reg.

Indeed, if you look at their newer single deckers the liveries aren't consistant either (but not as noticeable), some Excels are plain blue (One V reg and a R reg) with only fleet names on the front, whilst some are in the full 'new' livery & K429OKH & the T reg MPD's are still in the old livery (Must be years since they last had a repaint?). The coaching fleet is the same (the BMC has been left white, most coaches have the old livery whilst a L reg B10M coach has a blue/ gold/ silver livery). Back onto deckers considering the livery in now pretty much plain blue, surely a full repaint isn't that hard?

The H reg although being still a Leyland will be a ZF gearbox, as opposed to the ancient/troublesome and generally rubbish Hydracyclic boxes in the E reg ones.
