Not certain about the number but they certainly lost some through snow ... but 2011 was the airports worst year since opening and what's projected for 2012 seems to mean that this years total will be even lower. Despite all of this, DSA was putting a positive 'spin' on things..." Holding their own"....in a recent Business Review published by the Star.

"The recession", blamed by some for the abysmal performance of DSA, doesn't seem to have had any effect on LBA or MAN. In fact their numbers have increased! How come the recession hasn't happened there? What is the %age figure, + or -, for all UK airports?

A quick look would seem to indicate a positive trend. Apart from DSA... Belfast City, Bournemouth,Cardiff, Durham , Humberside and Newquay were down....although there might be another one or two. Dec stats: HUY 14,195 +18.8% annual 273,135 -3.3% EMA 201,589 +1% annual 1,208,435 +2.4% Interestingly, LCY ( with same runway landing distance as SCA and one of the steepest glide slopes currently operated by civil airliners ...showed a 7.6% increase in passenger numbers with 2,992,865 passengers. Makes you wonder why the aircraft operating in and out of LCY were , supposedly, unable to operate from SCA!)

Interesting stats for HUY, is there any particular reason why this local regional airport is up by 18.8%?

Well the figures are up considerably at Humberside despite Im told having been closed for a similar number of days due to snow in December 2010 as was Doncaster. Doncaster has simply lost more flights from Thomson hence the fractional increase. There is a chance things at Humberside could be looking up over the coming year or so.

Correction! EMA's annual total was understated (by me...senior moment!) and should read : 4,208, 435!
