Logic dictates that the UK's newest airport should be one of the fastest growing airports in the UK with there being the much vaunted demand for it prior to the grand opening.

Indeed, Peel's forecast to the Enquiry was for almost 3X the passenger numbers it is actually handling.

Last year saw...222,335,690 passengers using the UK's airports...an overall increase on 2010 of 4.1% That is good news overall, but how will it be affected when the new European Air Emmisions is introduced in the next couple of months, which could see some airlines suffer penalties as a result.

I really don't know, but to put the matter of pax nos. into perspective ,the peak year was 2007 when a total of 240,722,000 went through UK airports.

Its amazing how the UK airports have smoothly handled this vast increase in number of passengers. . . .imagine not just the passengers but the continuous arrival and departure of just as many cars to pick and drop those passengers!
