I am looking for information as to which was the last flight from and into Sheffield City Airport, prior to its closure on April 30, 2008.
If anyone could provide details on this if known, I'd be extremely grateful.

I know its not prior to closure. I seem to remember an unauthorized flight of a Cessna 150 of one of the former resident flying clubs being flown out after being impounded for non payment of something-or-other. I think this may have been the last fixed-wing movement though I'm not 100% on that.
On the subject of Sheffield City Airport, is it true that Peel have dug up a tarmac strip across the width of part of the runway to render it completely useless? They appear to be using dubious tactics at Durham Tees airport at the moment. That airport has been 'sold' by Peel Airports (of which Peel Holdings are now a minority stakeholder) to a newly created Peel Investments. There are questions being asked by some as to how the much vaunted Skypark development land on the south side of the runway has been transfered to the Peel parent company free of charge, and how this seems to have passed the local councils (who own a minority stake) appear to have let this happen.

I believe a Star reporter, Richard Marsden, made the last official flight out of SCA ,as a passenger in a Cessna. I haven't heard of the strip being removed but no one could legitimately land there as it is no longer licensed and the runway is marked as unuseable. As for the last inward flight I do know three biz-jets landed in its last week of operations...somewhere I have a picture of them. There are nearly as many Peel companies as days I have eaten a hot dinner but the last published accounts (2010) shows that 65% of Peel Airports Ltd was acquired on 21/06/10 by YVR Airport Services (UK)Ltd and that Peel Airports owned 75% of MME's A shares of £0.01 with voting rights and 65% of the deferred shares of a similar value with no voting rights. A similar question about ownership can most likely be asked about the original 290 hectare Finningley site( acquired by Peel Airports(Finningley)Ltd on 27/08/99) and how much of this site, if any, has been transferred to any other holding company.

Peel Investments ( DTVA) Ltd has acquired the majority shareholding in Peel Airports Ltd stake in Durham Tees Valley. Effectively , Peel has bought out VAS( now known as Vantage Airport Group)leaving Teeside where it was...in the ownership of Peel with the Local Authorities having a minority stake. Some people are now wondering how long it will be before a threat of wholesale redevelopment is made unless the losses are covered. by ?...shades of SCA!

It was the last one in a series of the "Dambuster" flights run by Air Atlantique who are based at Coventry. We were told by the crew that SCA was their best ever when they started up there. The plane was a De Havilland Rapide. Perhaps you could contact them at Coventry?
