I know it's not transport related but Doncaster's Aeroventure Museum at Lakeside will have one of five memorials to the hero's of the Battle of Britain. London already has one, the new ones will be located in the Scottish borders,Wales, Northern Ireland and Doncaster! ( Star 16/03)

The National Memorial to the 'Few' at Capel -le- Ferne between Dover and Folkestone is certainly an impressive memorial but the battle wasn't just fought over the skies of southern England. The Monument to the 'Few' on the Victoria Embankment was conceived by the same Bill Bond MBE who is responsible for the others including the one proposed for Doncaster...and Douglas Bader was the step-son of the Rector of Sprotborough and actually lived in Doncaster for a while!
