Oh dear, this does not fit with the "lets celebrate firsts problems" ethos for some on here. I feel for them. Interesting that the purchase price was so low (£50,000)

Interesting that the purchase price was so low (£50,000) Yes, the vehicles are not included though so First will have to find vehicles from somewhere to put in or invest new vehicles into it. With the amount of new vehicles going into First at current there should be plenty surpless but it depends if what is due to be withdrawn has any more life left.

Interesting that the purchase price was so low (£50,000) It looks low, but there appear to be no assets involved - wonder if this is EYMS deciding that they couldn't justify the necessary upgrades to the fleet (and better to sell the bus operation than worry about redundancies etc). Whilst First have recently sold one part of their Greater Manchester operations (Wigan), the Finglands acquisition (running routes in south Manchester that compete with Stagecoach) is a handy counterbalance to Stagecoach recently purchasing Bluebird (running routes in north Manchester that compete with First), so this may encourage some sort of "truce".

It made sense for First to sell Wigan though, looking at North Manchester geographically and it is far more West than the rest of the GMN operation. There should be some good competition now Stagecoach have Bluebird and First have Finglands

To heap even more misery on the few, First have just been awarded a new contract for the York Park'n'ride services and have also been awarded the new park'n'ride to Poppleton that will be run with electric Versa's from next April. Oh dear, life was so much easier when first were divesting dead losses.

Posts on the West Yorkshire Forum suggest most if not all new B7RLEs will go to the Fingland business, with some of Huddersfields already being de-branded.

In around an hour (21.00) the last Northampton vehicle should arrive back into St James depot and bring a close to the operations there.

Hate to speculate but I wouldn't be surprised to see something announced about Plymouth/South Devon soon. Go Ahead and Stagecoach are circling in and even with the retaliation that they have registered from 28 October (if you can call it that), it is a reduction of around 17 vehicles worth of work. Hopefully most of the Volvo B6BLEs will then be sent off to the scrappers. Surprisingly they are leaving themselves prone to further competition after a major reduction in their heartland (Plymstock area of the city) and also pulling out of Barne Barton on the 3. Looks like the battle is shifting to their new 6 route to Efford and the Tavistock - Plymouth routes.
