The one benefit for me would be a "new posts since last visit". I like to use the 50 last posts but if you've been away from the forum for a while you miss a lot of the comments that have been made.
Also any sort of reduction in the number of forums and sub-forums is very much welcome, although as I say I tend to use the last 50 posts function anyway.

Also any sort of reduction in the number of forums and sub-forums is very much welcome, although as I say I tend to use the last 50 posts function anyway. I can confirm that the 50 most recent posts function will remain. I will personally look into the threads section although there will be a new participated section, showing any posts/threads that you have commented on, and this will highlight these when there is an update in the form of a new posting etc. You will also be able to be notified of updates to particular posts, threads or entire boards. As an example of this new and exciting feature see the print screen below: This will be able to notify you of any updates either via Private Message, Email or both of these functions should you wish to select them. The search function has also been vastly improved and should be much more responsive on the new software. You will be able to use this function to search for all new posts for a set period, either for the full forum or individual posts. Some really exciting new features and major changes to come! With regards to the chatroom, we will look at integrating this onto the main website. However there will be no notification of who is in the chatroom as this coding will not work, not fit in with the revamped forum software. A button can be added to the main menu bar as at present to directly take you to the chatroom and the chatroom its self will remain unchanged.

Don't merge the Tram and Rail sections together, as then information for both different (and yes they are totally different networks) would just become much harder to find. Agree with the proposed change for the Modellers section, it should have really been in the Multimedia thread to start off with when it launched.
As for new suggestions, not sure if it has been suggested already but how about a Like button like on Facebook so that when thanking someone for posting/replying we can just click this rather than typing out "Thanks for the info" or similar in a thread?
Also seen on another similar type of forum, how about a 'Games/Quiz' type board for people who would like to participate and test their knowledge on the local transport scene around Yorkshire?
Looking forward to the change, looks good from the images shown above.

Thank you for all feedback posted on here and via the contact us form. There is certainly a lot to get through and we have looked into implementing most ideas that have been generated by yourselves.
All suggestions are now closed.
