A total of 693,129 pax used the airport throughout 2012. ...Which is 15.6% less than in 2011.December saw just 33,330 pax ...down 10.3% on 2011( a majority of these being to and from Eastern Europe)
Of all the major UK airports only 1 has seen a greater loss in passenger useage ...year on year.

Leeds Bradford up at just shy of 3 million for the rolling year. With two new operators the number should far exceed that 3 million figure in 2013.
80% of DSA's forecast growth figures were based on passengers flying from other airports such as LBA, EMA and MAN. All of those airports are witnessing new airlines committing to new routes. Though not necessarily growing in terms of passenger figures, attrition at EMA is an example, and DSA has failed miserably at fighting to enter when the barriers are down. Nobody can say that the lack of growth at DSA is down to the economy or not being 'established', when a certain airport nearby is seeing its busiest months ever. DSA was built on the understanding that it would be a better location for the airlines. Clearly not.
It is just the case of the airport being a white elephant as predicted by some even before it opened.

Why would a property and investment company want to join in the risky business of air travel....The answer could be in what they do best!
