Hearing many reports of the derailment this morning on the yellow route - TSY flapping like mad as usual and First changing their mind about accepting Supertram tickets on service 69. Where was the derailment? Several people seem to say Nunnery, which if so I would then think it was the curve at the Meadowhall end of the depot that has been rough for a few years now.
Wonder if anyone can expand or provide some pictures if they managed to get there. Cheers!

Don't think anything leaves Depot towards Meadowhall at that time - think this may be one if the last Blue Routes leaving direct to Station & Halfway.

TSY flapping like mad as usual and First changing their mind about accepting Supertram tickets on service 69. There seems to be a lot of confusion about tram tickets on buses. As I understand it, a formal request must be made before this can happen. Lots of tram and PTE staff seem to think that First will come galloping to the rescue every time they break the PTE's toy train set. First is not a charity and will not carry a rivals passengers without an agreement for compensation. In the last 2 1/2 years I have only been aware of one instance where this has happened. It seems to be that there is a reluctance from Stagecoach / PTE to ask for help as they will then have to pay for it.

With some 14 million passengers a year and over 26 million passenger miles travelled per annum this is some "Toy train set" isn't it!
Of course First aren't going to come to the rescue of a rivals operations...Which is why in a more sensible environment than we have currently, we might have a "joined up" public transport system where all forms of transport are integrated. As it is we have rivals still chasing one another along the same routes... as I witnessed today with the 120 route...one bus full and minutes later two just burning diesel!

Well i dont know about Midland Rd but its quite common for Supertram to ring up Olive Grove for tram users to use the appropriate service in areas where there is a problem whther it be Hillsborough and broken down vehicles or other parts of the network closed due to incidents or accidents.

Thats true, after seeing it happened at 7am after posting this I was thinking the same. At which point it must have happened on depot points on the Sheffield end (West if I remember correctly?) of the depot, by power of deduction. I think it is very reasonable for First to decline, if Stagecoach want them to carry the passengers 'charitably'. Where Stagecoach have a problem with the PTE's toy, and are not willing to pay up for replacements, First have money to be made from the punters pockets. Where I was coming from with it though is that if you look on PTE's Twitter feed, they were changing their mind about whether they would be accepted or not. I've heard like Captain says of Supertram ringing OG about it, however much less about them asking Midland Road... No idea on if there would be a reason for that, but it does seem a little odd.

Calls are rarely made to Midland Road as far as I am aware. We do get PTE staff at meadowhall regularly trying to offload passengers onto the X78 but always get told to do it officially and nothing then happens.

Its quite simple, they do not seem to understand that the x78 is run by Rotherham, so see no need to contact MR. However, if no call is made, no passengers are carried.

At 7:30 this morning, tram passengers at Centertainment were given the option of catching the tram to Meadowhall, to a bus (presume the X78?), or to walk down to the main road to catch the 69. I did the later and my Supertram only megarider was accepted no questions asked - if officially or drivers discretion I'm not sure.
By mid-morning trams were operating again, and by the afternoon there was no evidence of any derailment that I could see.

ZI thought a couple of the Rail Replacement Enviro400s could have been used to shuttle between town and Woodbourn Road, but after talking to a driver last night, they donot have Cab Radios, Manchester Motorolla Mobile Phones in stead, so cannot get in touch with depot. This would have been a small solution and help.

This would have been a small solution and help. That is a very handy design then... I would have thought there would be some system in place for them to get in touch with the depot, other than drivers mobile phone I presume? Saw one of the 09 reg's on a 123 the other day, wonder how that went with no radio! Tram that derailed was 111.
