This route was a little before my time, or at best when I was just a little nipper and too young to remember, but I wondered if anyone remembers the route it took around Doncaster? The impression I get is that it was an 80s style freebie for Donny (although perhaps not free).

It was numbered 160 and started way back in Doncaster transport days not sure if it was free or not but iv got a timetable some where for it.

it started just before the pedestrianisation of Donny town centre, it started at Southern Bus Station, ran Trafford Way into Railway Station, out again and into Northern BS, then up Frenchgate, left into Scot Ln, through the Market Place, Sunny Bar and onto East Laith gate, then Park Rd, Christ Church Rd and into Christ Church BS then Waterdale back to SBS. 25 and 26 were the allocated buses but 22-24 were common and 31-33 sometimes appeared, Round trip 15 minutes and ran every 10 minutes

a bit more, it wasn't originally numbered, just known as inner circle, the buses had outer circle on the blinds but nothing ever came of that.
once frenchgate was closed to traffic it ran via Fishergate and the white elephant car park 3 and Market Road to East Laith Gate
1072 -1076 appeared as regular buses but 5-7 and some of 1059 -1066 were also used.
1000 spent its working life on the route and the seddon rebuild 1068 was a regular
Nationals replaced by Dominos then YT took over with Star riders and Metro Riders

an electric powered Seddon was once the cutting edge of technology, its a strange world!

Also it was weird because at the time High Street and St Sepulchre Gate were two ways but only for buses could go the opposite way as show in the second pic the bus is sat outside TJ Hughes.
I think it was 160 and 173 that could go the opposite way down St Sepulchre Gate

The Inner Circle started on 3rd December 1973, as announced in the timetable issued at that time. The original routing is also given in the timetable. Apologies for the poor scan of the timetable page: it appears to have been printed on very thin paper.

Leon's did operate the inner circle from deregulation for around 3 years, Yorkshire Traction won it when it came up for tender, but after about a year the route finished.
