Well, after this latest outpouring of "spin"....a few facts:
1) The airport does not handle one million passengers a year. It has managed that but once, and that was in 2007. Last year it managed slightly in excess of 693,000 and may reach 700,000 this year ( if last months improvement continues). 2) People already know how accessible is DSA ,hence the 1,074,373 who went through the terminal in 2007.

How can someone mistake 1,000,000 for 700,000? Not a mathematician then? Even at the laughable 1,000,000 it is far less than half of the passengers predicted by the owners for this stage of the airport's history. Perhaps the only statistic of interest is......"How much money is Robin Hood loosing each day?"

They are all a little short of facts down there....In August not an ounce of freight was handled and yet the spin doctors are happily talking about the success freight is having despite traffic being a fraction of that handled in 2007.

Rather than starting a new thread for something which is, apparently, of limited interest the following are the October stats for our local airports. All showed increases with the exception of DSA.
DSA 65,351 down 2.5%, EMA 430,539 up 18%,MAN 1,873,451 up 6.7%,LBA 322,089 up 18% and HUY 19,075 up 6%
The latest published freight figures show that nothing came in or out of DSA during September....although with an Il 76 landing today some freight traffic will occur during November!

To meet the total figures for last year an increase in December of around 15% will be needed!

December saw 35,283 passengers...an increase of 5.9%. Overall the total numbers for 2013 was 689,761....down on the previous year by 0.5% making 2013 the worst full year since the airport opened.....Current rumours about Ryanair cutting a further service make for even more pessimism in 2014.
