What would you do, if anything, with the current Meadowhall station and interchange when (and if) the new HS2 station is built? The map below shows the proposed route: assets.hs2.org.uk/sites/default/files/consultation_library/pdf/Route%20section%20HSL15%20key%20plan.pdfThe map positions the HS2 line to cross over slightly east of the current station, over Meadowhall Road and Meadowhall Way, to the west of Firth Rixson. That means that all of the current platforms, Supertram, and bridge link to Meadowhall itself, might need moving? There could possibly be a new terminating platform so that say Hope Valley line trains can continue on from Sheffield? In terms of the HS2 station, I can't quite visualise the length of it, but presumably it would be from the current rail line down towards say where House of Fraser entrance is at Meadowhall. When I think of how long Eurostar currently is, probably it needs to be that length. I wonder if someone will realise that a connection to and from the Barnsley line, just north of Meadowhall, might be useful? Why shouldn't Cross Country trains for example, use the new line between York/Leeds and Meadowhall/Sheffield, so speeding up part of the journey.
