Hi all,
Thought it might interest you to learn that TM Travel's Northern Counties Palatine 2 bodied DAF P337ROO has joined sister P335ROO in preservation back at home in Essex.
As 335 is in the original Harris Bus Ilford link livery, I'm undecided on whether to do the same with 337, or whether to put 337 into the East Thames livery - bit plain and boring though!
TM Travel have given me permission to retain the current livery for the 2014 rally season so we'll have to wait and see what I do.....

Glad to hear that this has been saved - it's been liked as an oddball during its time up here. Best of luck with it, hopefully see it at some rallies! As you've preserved it - I imagine you've sorted/going to sort the chassis rot? I assume it wasn't very severe but it's why it met its end with TM.

Chassis rot? That's news to me! Looked pretty solid under there when I inspected it prior to purchase.
Mind you I've also seen it stated that the engine blew up - strange that seeing as I drove it back to Essex!
Part of the reason it was withdrawn is that it had a leak on the water rail. I gather that its oddball status also led to issues in terms of maintenance - both engineers knowledge of DAF and with regard to spare parts stocking.
So withdrawal from service was most likely a policy decision rather than a mechanical one.

You found my website then!
It is indeed unlikely that she'll come back up North - it certainly won't happen whilst she's in TM Travel livery as I agreed with them that I wouldn't be taking it any further North than Duxford and would therefore not cause confusion in their operating area. Once I get around to repainting her, well who know's....
My website shows another vehicle for Showbus and the reason is that it'll be the latest one repainted. If, and it is an if, I'm able to repaint 337 in time.....well then there's a good chance 337 will go to Showbus. As you may already know, TM's manager is an enthusiast himself and he's keen to see it at Duxford!....
The DVLA issue is simply that I tried to tax it as PLG - which is the correct tax class for private use - but DVLA have shut all their local offices and so I'm having to deal with Swansea who are insisting it should be taxed in the private HGV class. Having argued the point for 20 mins on the phone and got nowhere, I'm gonna save me money and go for the cheaper private HGV class. Trouble is I've gotta send them a load of paperwork in order to change the tax class and thats why it couldn't be taxed in time for Saturday.

Thought you all might like to know that 337 is now back in Harris Bus Blue & Green; just awaiting vinyls to finish the job off.
It is booked into Showbus 2014 at Duxford.

have you put all the roller blinds back in 337? I have the ability to put the correct front destination set up back as I have sister P335ROO which to cut a long story short, is likely to go for scrap. However, I have managed to acquire the necessary equipment to get the electronic blind working and I quite like the flexibility it gives. Being as the centre exit doors won't be going back - costs far outweigh justification - I suppose I can say I'm going for the "what could have been" look had Harris Bus continued operations. I don't suppose I'll be too popular with enthusiasts but hey ho, its my bus and that's that I guess! As for the side and rear number blinds, they are still present and only had a black vinyl stuck on the glass which I've removed. Here's a couple images of the repaint (vinyls still to go on):
