Altered tram routes and timetables will operate on Sunday 6th July for the Grand Depart Stage 2 arriving in Sheffield. There will be viewing areas at High Bradfield and Oughtibridge, a fan zone at Meadowhall and a festival at the stage finish line at Don Valley Bowl. The public transport plan for the day for these locations are centred on the tram network. Tendered bus services will connect Malin Bridge tram terminus with Low Bradfield (operated by TM Travel) and Middlewood tram terminus with Oughtibridge (operated by Stagecoach). Trams will run... Middlewood to Meadowhall every 8 minutes daytime, every 20 minutes evening Halfway to Meadowhall every 16 minutes daytime, every 20 minutes evening Herdings Park to Malin Bridge every 30 minutes daytime and evening. Special tram only day tickets will be available for £3 adults and £1.50 children. These will soon be available to buy in advance from TSY information centres on special commemorative ticket stock. The same offer will be available on the day. Normal bus & tram Dayrider and Citywide tickets will also be valid of course. There is also a family ticket deal available to those buying in advance online. Details including the special timetables at www.supertram.com. Another operator putting on special services is Northern Rail who will be running more trains than normal on the Barnsley branch. As well as serving the fan zone at Meadowhall this will be an important connection to Chapeltown and North Sheffield bypassing all the closed roads.
