Well, those of us with our feet firmly on the ground ( forgive the pun on an aviation forum) know that this is Mr Gill using his "formidable" powers of spin to make a small increase in annual numbers (5%) into a major story. The fact is the airport saw 724,252 passengers through its terminal last year which is over 1 million short of the forecasts it was making when its last plan was published. Air freight is growing very slowly, mainly by "spot" loads and we still don't have a single service, of any use to business, unless it is dealing with former Warsaw Pact countries!

Passenger numbers were up by a respectable 28% last month....mainly because of additional services to eastern Europe!

DSA has just seen two interesting cargo flights....tea carried by Ethiopian Airways aboard Boeing 777's freighters.

Well, in March perhaps the figures do show numbers "soaring". They are up by around 30%...mainly on account of an increase in flights from eastern Europe!
