Where are the best places to photograph trains in South Yorkshire, excluding the major stations? Or even quieter stations further afield such as Hathersage which still gets a lot of passing traffic

There can be some interesting traffic on the old line from Chesterfield to Rotherham via the Rother Valley. I have had some success along the route of the old GCR mainline looking down the cutting on the old Midland Line at Rother Valley.

Since service trains are running on the section to be used by the tram train over the weekend that may be a good spot for something different.

The footbridge at the former Old Denaby foot crossing, just down from Mexborough station, is a good place for photos.
