SYTT have as many of you may know, moved to new premises in Eastwood in Rotherham and are holding an open day on Sunday 23rd July this year. There will be stalls, visiting buses and bus rides as well as a chance to look round the collection that has been until recently stored in the old Tinsley Tram sheds. Programmes will be available on the day with details of all the vehicles, with any money raised going towards the continued restoration of the trusts collection.

Details are being finalised, so far i can confirm there will be feeder buses from Sheffield (Penny Black) at 09.30 and Doncaster (Waterdale) at 09.30 as well as very frequent buses from Rotherham Commercial Street and The Bridge Inn Starting at 09.50 and very frequently till 16.50. There will be an intensive service run on 2 routes as well as loads of the very best trade stands in the country. A programme costing £5 will be available by post approx 1 week before the event, it will include a full timetable of services running and a full listing of all vehicles stored at the Trusts premises. It will also be available in several locations on the day. There is also going to be a very special re-creation of a local transport event taking place during the event as well as a launch of a recently restored vehicle. Lots to see and do.

Lots of vehicles booked in and still getting bookings through. A good service pattern has been set with a good variety of buses. The only disappointment is that there will be no SYPTE dominators running but we do have a gmpte one standing in. Also at 16.00 there will be a mini tribute the the whistle departures featuring about 10 vehicles. All shaping up very nicely.

How to get there. From Sheffield there is a feeder service leaving the Penny Black at 09.30, From Doncaster there is a feeder service leaving Waterdale at 09.30. There are regular buses leaving Rotherham (Corporation Street, outside wilko's) from 09.50, then 1 minute later at Greasbrough Street (opposite the Bridge Inn). Mobility Impaired visitors can use First service X78 from Sheffield, platform C1 Rotherham Platform A1 or Doncaster Platform B7 and ask for the Cranworth Arms, (the drivers will know the stop as it is a fare stage) from there it is a short walk down Shaw road and you will arrive at the premises. (it is located behind the TA base).

On behalf of all the team at SYTT I just want to say a massive thankyou to everyone who came along and supported the day. Those who came will bear out that we had a great turnout of buses, stalls and visitors with many many favourable comments received.
Moving out of Tinsley has allowed events like yesterday to happen and the facilities at the new site were there for all to see and are leagues ahead in so many ways.
The next event will be on 10th December and will follow a different format in keeping with the time of year.
Next Years BIG ONE will be on 22nd July so put it in your diaries now, but dont forget there will be smaller events before then.

P.S. I think we can lay to rest the idea that SYTT is just about Dominators
