Does anyone know why TM Travel's evening and all day sunday service 85 doesn't go to Sheffield Interchange where as first 85 does go into Sheffield Interchange The First service from High Green via Grenoside hasn't to run to the Interchange in recent years - as it ran through to Ecclesall Road/ Carter Knowle then latterly through to Abbeydale Road/ Chancet Wood. The tendered service replicated the daytime route as far as Arundel Gate (albeit with the diversion round Fox Hill), which made sense. Then First chopped the 85 (with the new oddly timed 96 taking the Chancet Wood section, and the 85 extending to the Interchange to interwork with the 72 to Rotherham), but the tendered service didn't change at this time - it may even be that extending it to the Interchange would require an additional vehicle (which the PTE aren't going to fund in cash-strapped times, and TM aren't going to provide voluntarily, since the evening/ Sunday service is loss making)

Could it not be that the PTE charge for bus companies to use the interchange.

The reason this and any other service is tendered is because they do not turn a profit. The PTE then contract an operator to run it on their behalf as is their legal duty.
