Doncaster park and ride number 70. Route and times amendments. That must be so it serves lakeside then. Also 222 route change again. Effective from 22nd July.

I reckon it might be a bit more direct than the X10 was. Most likely it'll be 265 route from Barnsley to Ecclesfield then direct to Meadowhall.

An interesting move. They've started a weekend "shoppers" service in the NE (X55 from Stockton and Harlepool to Dalton Park and Newcastle - Dalton Park is an "outlet" shopping place) - the Barnsley line trains are certainly busy enough at weekends with Meadowhall shoppers so there may be a gap in the market for a bus - encourage a few regular Barnsley commuters to use the bus at the weekend too?

Arriva NE also ran an express limited stop Saturday shopper service from Durham to the Metrocentre. However this was cancelled earlier this year with the company stating that numbers of people travelling to the centre had reduced and the service was no longer viable.
One reason given in their news feed was the increase in online shopping as opposed to ppl travelling to big shopping centres.
Do you not think that the same situation will ultimately arise with regard to people travelling by bus to Meadowhall???
Interesting that Sragecoach are only just beginning this.

The first Stagecoach buses in meadowhall for 10 years?

Not exactly a massive risk though is it? 2 bus pvr on a quieter day only creaming off the summer trade.

That is true.
Also, the mileage between Barnsley and Meadowhall is much less than from Durham to the Metrocentre in Gateshead.

It was more due to the fact they had cut the service right back to Saturday only against a Go North East operated route that runs 7 days a week.

The first Stagecoach buses in meadowhall for 10 years? Nearly 10 years - was it Feb 08 when the 37/A was withdrawn?

Online shopping has been with us for a few years yet Meadowhall still seems as busy as ever - whether people are spending as much I don't know but it doesn't matter to Stagecoach if people are only going there for a pair of Primark socks and a McDonalds burger as long as they are paying the bus fare to get there.
Good point re the 37/37a - that takes me bacK!
