An interesting move. They've started a weekend "shoppers" service in the NE (X55 from Stockton and Harlepool to Dalton Park and Newcastle - Dalton Park is an "outlet" shopping place) - the Barnsley line trains are certainly busy enough at weekends with Meadowhall shoppers so there may be a gap in the market for a bus - encourage a few regular Barnsley commuters to use the bus at the weekend too? The first Stagecoach buses in meadowhall for 10 years? Stagecoach coaches are regular visitors to Meadowhall. Although disguised as Megabus.

Good point about the megashed services as they are technically bus services, also Stagecoach do (or did) run some National Express bus services in and out of Meadowhall. If we restrict it to local bus services then its 9 years though.

Online shopping has been with us for a few years yet Meadowhall still seems as busy as ever - whether people are spending as much I don't know but it doesn't matter to Stagecoach if people are only going there for a pair of Primark socks and a McDonalds burger as long as they are paying the bus fare to get there. Good point re the 37/37a - that takes me bacK! Used to love a run to Meadowhall on the 37(and the 78 sometimes ) on one of the ex wm metrobuses or a national 2 with comfy seats. IIRC it ran Monday to Saturday peak with the last departure around 1745. Would love to see it return but doubt it's viable nowadays
