Launching on Saturday 28th October 2017, a brand new service, the X10 will commence running from Barnsley to Leeds via Wakefield Road, Darton, Kexbrough and then the M1/M621 into Leeds. It will run generally hourly, but more frequently at peak periods, operating every day, with the last journey from Leeds at 2020 on Mondays to Thursdays and 2320 on Fridays and Saturdays. There will also be a Sunday daytime service too!
This new service will be run by Barnsley depot and will use mid-life Plaxton Elite coaches displaced from National Express work by imminent new deliveries.

Good luck to them. The X32 struggled even when Barnsley to Leeds was just an hourly slow train via Castleford (i.e. before the half hourly "semi-fast" service), but maybe the market is bigger now?
Stagecoach certainly seem to be trying something new at the moment - the X65, the 737, now the X10... I don't know that they'll all work but at least they are aiming for some new markets - best of luck

Whilst probably limited stop, it may pick up some local custom along the route between Kexbrough and Barnsley, a link lost when the 235 to Huddersfield was withdrawn. I wouldn't rule success out here though. Provided the M1 is clear, Darton to Leeds is a very quick run. The X32 was timetabled to do Darton-Leeds-Darton in about 1h10 minutes.
The train these days is a relatively good and fast service but there are those along the Wakefield Road corridor for whom, the bus maybe quicker. Remember also that the rail service from the Darton area is still relatively slow to Leeds given that it is an 'all stops' service. Plus, the rail frequency from Darton has halved since the days of the X32. It seems that the stagecoach service will be quite comfortable given the vehicles. They could however have been slightly more ambitious with the late evening Friday & Saturday service though. I reckon a 2am departure from Leeds would likely be well used.

53716 has been painted in preparation for use on the X10. It will be used alongside 2 other elites also from nat ex in chesterfield. Currently just sporting the corporate livery but it will eventually have branding specific to the route. Picture here: imgur.com/oH51JBM
